Buffy
The Vampire Slayer
Captured on Photocards
Inkworks
Introduces Product in New Format
RALEIGH,
NC -- May 11, 1999 -- Inkworks
has captured the smash hit television show, Buffy The Vampire Slayer in
a new collectible format – 4” x 6” photocards.
The 54-image set will be introduced in June 1999, to a fan base
that is eagerly awaiting the next Buffy product.
“Buffy
The Vampire Slayer is an incredibly hot property right now.
This photocard item was added to our schedule to help meet
consumer demand for Buffy products and give our retailers a traffic
building product for the summer,” says Martha Modlin, Executive Vice
President of Inkworks. “We
sold out of our first two Buffy trading card products within two weeks
of their introductions and, because the third season of the show isn’t
complete yet, our Season Three set will not release until September.”
Although
the subject matter is still Buffy The Vampire Slayer, the product itself
is very different from the two previous Inkworks releases.
According to Modlin, the photocard concept is a relatively new
one in the collectibles industry. Each card has feel and texture of a
high gloss photograph in a standard 4-inch x 6-inch photograph size.
In addition, the images are all different from those contained in
the trading card products.
“We
are producing the same case quantity of photocards as we did for the
Season One and Season Two trading card sets,” says Modlin.
“However, the amazing photography and larger format images that
can be framed or put into photo albums should appeal to a wider
audience. Needless to say
we expect to sell out of this item quickly.”
The
basic photocard set consists of 54 all new images.
Numbers have been printed on the back of each photocard to assist
collectors. In addition, there are 6 foil-stamped bonus photos of Buffy
numbered B1 to B6 (odds of finding bonus photocards are approximately
1:17 packs or about 2 per box). These
bonus photocards will only be
available in display boxes shipped to the
hobby trade, so the best place to complete a collection is at the
trading card, comic book, and collectible shops that normally carry
Inkworks products.
Buffy
The Vampire Slayer Photocards are packed 6 photocards per pack, 36 packs
per box, 10 boxes per case. The
suggested retail price is $1.99 per pack.
